Egypt Wins the Second and Third Places in 3rd Edition of The Regional ‘Threat Hunters’ Competition

Egypt, represented by the National Egyptian Computer Emergency Readiness Team (EG-CERT), won the second and third place awards at the third edition of the Regional ‘Threat Hunters’ Competition, which was held in July and September 2020. The three first-place award winners, who won the “Threat Hunter 2020” title at the regional level, were announced as follows:

Category (A): Osama Karow (Tunisia), Seif El-Din Tariq Aziz (Egypt) and Yasser Muhammad Abd El-Moneim Ali (Egypt). After announcing the names of winners, the three first- place winners of each category were honored.

It is worth noting that Egypt, represented by the EG CERT, had organized, in collaboration with the ITU Arab Regional Cyber Security Center (ITU-ARCC), the 3rd edition of the Regional ‘Threat Hunters’ competition, which was held, as we have previously mentioned in July and September 2020 in the Sultanate of Oman, in partnership with Silensec. The Competition was held via the “Cyber Range” platform.

The ‘Threat Hunters’ competition is considered one of the most prestigious regional cybersecurity competitions, that is held online at the level of Arab countries. Each country participates with six contestants in a special event at the national level and the winners eventually qualify for the Regional Final of Threat Hunters 2020.

Registration was opened on 9 August for two age groups, the first for contestants aged 17-24 years and the second for adults over 25 years old. The final round was held on 29 August 2020, as the competition, that lasted for 4 hours, was fierce. Three winners were announced in each age group, with two Egyptian winners who represented Egypt then in the Regional Competition.
